News and Events

As Executive Director of the House Foundation, James Paul led that organization through a successful 50th Anniversary Season that included concerts at BAM and Carnegie Hall.  He conceived and executed a 50th Season Campaign, raising $720,000, an amount unprecedented for the organization, principally from individual giving, recruiting a number of donors for a 50th Season Committee at donations of $10,000 and more.  He also won major grants from the Howard Gilman Foundation, the Booth Ferris Foundation, and the New York Community Trust, as well as state and federal grants.

The principal challenge of his work at the House Foundation was raising Ms. Monk’s national profile, a goal quite fully realized at the culmination of his time there, when she received the National Medal of Arts at the White House.
